Adopted Village
Research and Development Cell, Govt. Khawzawl College through an institutional MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) that commences on 15th July, 2021 till 1st June, 2024 agreed to select Chawngtlai village as the adopted village for conducting various programmes and for collecting and preparing data as per the study requirements and funds for organizing educational activities. Chawngtlai village has been selected for study because of its richness in terms of cultural heritage and its historical significance. Another reason behind choosing Chawngtlai as the adopted village was its proximity to the institution. The village enjoys a pleasant climate as it is neither too hot nor too cold. The weather in Khawzawl mostly remains sunny except during rainy seasons. As per the Population Census of 2011, Chawngtlai village has a total population of 1638 out of which 847 are males and 791 are females. The literacy rate (the literacy rate of population excluding children aged 6 and below) is 93.44%. Agronomy is the main source of income or primary economy of the people of Chawngtlai. Some other people are engaged in service, both private and government sectors. As per the population census 2011, Chawngtlai has 325 households. As per 2011 Population Census, Chawngtlai village had a literacy level around 80% and as per 2011 census, there were a total number of 250 children below the age of 6 years out of which there were 123 male children and 127 female children.
Research and Development Cell entrusted all the departments to visit Chawngtlai to initiate talks at the organizational level and collect data and prepare a report on various issues encompassing the status of education both at primary and secondary levels and also the scenario of English education at the only English medium school PES School, on the demography and economy and also on the history and Mizo literature of the village. The Cell under the aegis of IQAC and the patronage of respected Principal sir has published a book “Ngenmu”. Various other activities were also held in the village during the last couple of years.

2020-2021
Teacher/Students Exchange Programme cum exposure visit to Mizoram historical village Chawngtlai and Khawhai Village was organized with Govt. J.Thankima College Aizawl on April 2021. 6 Teachers and 23 Students from both Colleges participated.
2021-2022
- Every department namely Departments of Mizo, English, Political Science, History, Economics and Education visited Chawngtlai village as part of the research project to collect data and to consolidate it in the form of a book brought out by Research and Development Cell, Govt. Khawzawl College
- On 28th March 2022, Awareness Campaign on “Drug Abuse and HIV/AIDS” was jointly organized by NSS and Red Ribbon Club of Govt. Khawzawl College at Govt. Chawngtlai High School on 28th March, 2022 at 10:30Am. The function was organized under the chairmanship of Mr. Lalruatpuia, Asst. Professor, Govt. Khawzawl College, Mr. Lalrammawia Ralte, Project Manager, CODNERG, Khawzawl Drop-In-Centre was the Resource Person delivering a speech on Drug Abuse and HIV/AIDS. Mr. K. Lalkulhpuia NSS programme officer concluded the function with vote of thanks.
- of Education organized study Tour/survey on “Status And Development of Chawngtlai Village in Education” on 8th April 2022. 3 teachers and 30 students participated in the activity.
- The institution organized inauguration of “Adopted Village Chawngtlai” at the Chawngtlai Village “Inpui Hall” on 31st January 2022. Only selected members from the Village Council Members, NGO’s and College Principal, IQAC Coordinator and Heads of Departments participated in the inauguration due to Covid-19 restrictions.
